HOW CAN A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST HELP ME? A Speech Language Pathologist is specially trained in how the brain functions to provide us with the ability to listen, process information (visual, verbal and auditory), formulate responses (via speech, facial expressions, and writing), to remember information, organize information, as well as, how to chew and swallow. A Speech-Language Pathologist can determine the location of the brain dysfunction and the probable cause based on her knowledge of the brain. Once the source of the disability is determined, a Speech-Language Pathologist can then formulate appropriate therapeutic goals to address the area(s) needing improvement. Goals are very specific and tailored for each client. |
